Experts Biodiversity Platforms
CABES – Experts Platforms for West, Central and East Africa
CABES will establish and strengthen regional, sub-regional and national science-policy-practise platforms in West, Central, and East Africa, bringing together experts from biodiversity-related fields from science, policy, and the private sector, with the goal of strengthening south-south networks among actors at the sub-regional and regional level, fostering exchange on best practices and lessons learned, and facilitating collaborations with the international IPBES community. The platforms will be empowered through a number of activities, including virtual and face-to-face networking and capacity development events.
The platform goals include:
- To share information about ongoing initiatives at each platform, highlight difficulties and opportunities in policy support and BES conservation, and to learn from one another,
- To distribute knowledge about ongoing IPBES activities and related products, and present ways of engaging with IPBES,
- To foster uptake initiatives of IPBES products at the national, sub-regional and regional levels in order to improve the conservation of BES through better awareness and improved policies.
